International orders

The Royal Mail delivery service that I normally use is a little bit more expensive than standard Air Mail but it provides greater security that your parcel will reach you safely, without going astray and, as a signature's required, the postman won't just leave it on your doorstep, if you're not home. There are two variations of this service, depending on the destination country, which is explained in more detail below.

I'm currently trialing standard Air Mail deliveries for light, lower value, international orders - there's a section on this a little further down the page too.

Delivery charges for international orders are calculated by weight and the cost for sending your order will be displayed in the Shopping Basket when you select the destination country.

USA and Canada

Unfortunately, I'm unable to send orders to America or Canada. However, customers in these regions can order a gift for a recipient who lives in the UK, ie where delivery would be to a UK address.

Delivery services

I normally send international parcels by:

  • Royal Mail's International TRACKED & SIGNED delivery service: The parcel is tracked throughout the full journey, with priority handling and a signature required at destination. Online delivery confirmation is available via Royal Mail's Track and Trace page. The tracking element is only available in some countries though.
  • Royal Mail's International SIGNED delivery service: (Where the Tracked & Signed service isn't available) Tracking with this service is only whilst the parcel is still in the UK. Royal Mail states it has priority handling, with a signature required at destination and online delivery confirmation via Royal Mail's Track and Trace page.

Standard Air Mail (trial delivery option)

I'm painfully aware that the Signed delivery services can be disproportionately expensive for small, light parcel and for lower value orders. Mindful of this, I've decided to introduce standard Air Mail, sent with proof of posting - on a trial basis - for small international parcels that weigh less than 500g. 

Hopefully, this will prove to be a problem-free option that I'll be able to offer on an ongoing basis, but I'll keep this under review.

Size and weight limitations

Delivery costs for international orders are calculated by parcel weight. Parcels for international delivery are subject to weight and size limitations, therefore I may be unable to send a large order overseas as a single parcel. If a large order would need to be split due to the postal service's restrictions, an additional weight-based international delivery charge would apply. I'd of course advise you prior to despatch, if this is the case with your order.

Delivery times 

Royal Mail aims to deliver within these guideline times:

  • Europe: 3-5 working days
  • Rest of the world: 5-7 working days

Uncollected parcels

Delays to overseas destinations are quite common, but if your parcel hasn't arrived within 7 days of despatch, please contact your local delivery office as they may have tried to deliver whilst you were out (and perhaps didn't leave a notice to let you know). 

IMPORTANT: Most postal services will only hold a parcel for around one week after a failed delivery, before returning it to us. If a parcel isn't collected and is returned to me, a further delivery charge would be payable for the parcel to be re-sent. If an order is returned here undelivered, due to non-collection or an incorrect delivery address being provided, I'm afraid the original delivery charge wouldn't be refundable.

Packaging

For overseas orders, I may package in a mailing bag, rather than a box, where appropriate. This is to help keep the weight and your costs down and to go a little way to reduce the carbon footprint. If a toy is presented in a manufacturer's gift box, I'll use an outer box for packaging to better protect the gift box!    

Anti-fraud precautions

If you're ordering from abroad for delivery to a non-UK delivery address, the delivery address must match the cardholder's billing address. In some instances, I may need to request proof of the cardholder's ID and/or address before an order can be despatched. I never feel comfortable asking for this information in these circumstances but it's done as an anti-fraud precautions to protect both the cardholder and me and is in accordance with my merchant payment provider's strong recommendations.

Other international costs

Any custom duties, taxes or inbound postal charges for your order, which may be due in the destination country are payable in that country by the parcel's recipient.

Exclusions for international delivery

Some products on the website are only available for UK delivery. This is mostly the organic skincare ranges and some of the bedroom and bathroom organic textile ranges. In these cases, it's indicated on the product's page, if an item is only available for UK delivery.
